The BCRC has prepared a Regional Energy Plan that is integrated with the comprehensive Bennington County Regional Plan. The Regional Plan was the first in Vermont to receive a determination of energy compliance from the Department of Public Service. The BCRC has worked on energy conservation initiatives with local energy committees, Efficiency Vermont, and business organizations. Support for development of certain renewable energy projects, participation in Section 248 reviews before the Public Utility Commission, and assistance to towns and organizations attempting to develop local food and local economy initiatives are undertakings that fall under the commission’s energy work program. The BCRC also works with local communities, the Department of Public Service, and other organizations to improve planning for the siting of energy facilities and in undertaking activities designed to implement Vermont’s Comprehensive Energy Plan.
