The Arlington Energy Committee is committed to assist residents, businesses, schools and town government in reducing energy consumption and costs through conservation, increased energy efficiency, conversion to renewable energy sources, and the promotion of energy education and awareness.

Bennington Energy CommitteeThe Bennington Select Board in 2019 reconstituted the Bennington Energy Committee to help the Town improve energy efficiency and reduce the use of fossil fuels in order to lessen the impacts of climate change.

Dorset Energy COmmittee
The Dorset Energy Committee formed to help meet the energy challenges and goals of the town. The Energy Committee has made great strides toward assessing all municipal buildings for energy efficiency & getting the necessary work done to lower energy costs for the town.

The Shaftsbury Energy Committee was formed in 2024 to make recommendations to the select board and educate residents about the conservation and efficient use of energy and transitioning away from fossil fuels.

Energy COmmittees Active in Communities
The Manchester Energy Committee hosted a workshop on Thermal Energy Networks in October 2024.
Several municipal energy committees received a community capacity-building mini grant from the Municipal Energy Resilience Program. The Arlington Energy Committee used their grant to host a Good News Energy Fair on June 1, 2024.
Window Dressers is a volunteer driven effort to bring low-cost insulating window inserts to community members. The inserts help improve the warmth and comfort of homes, lower heating costs, and reduce CO2 emissions. For more information about the Bennington County chapter, visit their website.
