The Town of Dorset is undertaking an update to its 2021 Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Hazard mitigation plans (HMPs) are created through a community driven process that identifies hazards that could impact the town and develops actions and projects that the community can undertake to reduce risks and damages from natural hazards. Having an HMP in place makes the town eligible for non-emergency FEMA grants and funding programs.
The hazard mitigation planning process should take place every 5 years and should align with the most recent State of Vermont Hazard Mitigation Plan. More information on the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Planning process can be found here. This webpage will be updated throughout the process.
