BCRC and BCIC Announce New Partnership
The BCRC and the Bennington County Industrial Corporation (BCIC) have entered into an agreement to work together in an innovative collaboration to ensure vital economic development planning, implementation, and resource development services for the Bennington region. This partnership is being undertaken with the strategic goal of consolidating resources, eliminating redundant effort, improving outcomes, and galvanizing the economic development initiatives of these two important organizations.
Under this new relationship, BCIC will sub-contract with BCRC to implement its core economic development priorities, which are funded through the Vermont State Agency of Commerce and Community Development. Richard “Dixie” Zens, President of the BCIC Board and Vice President of Abacus Automation said, “Because economic development has never been more important for Bennington County, this collaboration is an essential step in addressing the ongoing challenge of constrained resources available for this vital work.
BCRC Assistant Director and Community Development Program Coordinator, Bill Colvin will oversee the implementation of BCIC’s economic development priorities, including developing and maintaining strong relationships with key employers and businesses. He also will oversee the provision of services that add value and support the strengthening and growth of new and existing businesses, while working to expand economic development initiatives with neighboring regions.
Jim Sullivan, Executive Director of the Bennington County Regional Commission said, “We look forward to strengthening our partnership with BCIC, to provide the range and depth of services needed to enhance and expand economic opportunities within the Bennington region.”
